Shirley's Story

I attended Jackson Elementary, McLoughlin Jr. High and Medford High my sophomore year and then my family moved to Central Point & I graduated from Crater and then on to OSU in Corvallis. I married Martin Gilchrist, had two fantastic sons Michael (40) and Joseph (38). Divorced in the year of my independence 1976 and was a single mom for two years. Married the love of my life Larry Grimes 31 years ago and we had Jessica (28). Joseph & Heather have blessed us with two grandsons Brennan (14) and Taran (9). Worked in the banking world for 12 years, church administrator for 10 years, Admin for Allied Building Products for 6 years and am currently Admin Assistant for a sports injury physical therapy clinic. Am really looking forward to retiring! I have rung English Handbells for over 23 years and teach & direct music through bells to the children of our church. Wedding Coordinator for our church as well as the Archives Chairperson (documents dating from 1856). I love genealogy and am constantly researching for my families. I still do a little bit of sewing - wedding gowns still a specialty of mine. Would love more time to spend with family, quilt, do counted cross-stitch, read, read, read, go camping, fishing, travel, work with my roses, spend time with our two mini-Daschunds Heidi & Sophie, garden.....endless list of "want to do". I am a Team Captain with the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and an Advocate for ACS CAN. My sister, Marcia, is a seven year breast cancer survivor. I walk and volunteer to find a cure for cancer so other women do not have to go through what she went through! My mom will be 90 years young this coming June and I take care of her paperwork and make sure she is as healthy as she can be. Sound busy? Extremely and loving every minute!
