Kathleen's Story

I worked at Oakland Community College after graduation from H.S. Moved on to work for the city clerk's office, City of Troy. Got married, had two boys, moved to Texas. From Texas, moved to Georgia and lived there until 2008 where I came home to Birmingham to help my elderly father care for my mother whom had alzheimers. My mother passed away in April of this year. I am still caring for my father, however. Feels strange to be back in Birmingham after so many years away. So many changes here. I have been married twice and divorced twice, the second time this year. Adopted a dog from the Humane Shelter, better company than my husbands were, sweeter also. Anyway that,s a very condensed version of many years in between 1965 and now. Guess that's enough for now, anyway. I love to read constantly, that was something I didn't care too much for in school, probably the type of books they made us read. Now I love reading, I read just about anything I get my hands on. I also belong to a group of dog lovers. We get together and let the dogs run off leash. It's surprising how so many dogs play and have fun together without a squabble. I love all kinds of animals and wish that I lived on enough land to have chickens, goats, horses, etc. If I c...Expand for more
ould improve my home, I'd remodel the kitchen, add on a screened porch and fence off the yard for my dog. My dream home would be in the country..PS since writing this I did update the kitchen some, looks much brighter. I have learned to have patience, and to treat people with kindness, honesy and love. If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to my family, then spend the rest on land, a log cabin and charities.. My current age is 29+++. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be ancient. Heck, I thought anybody 20 was old - oh how wrong I feel about that now and sure don't like to be called old myself, goes to show that you need to have lived it to realize and gain some wisdom. My mind still says young, just have to stay from the mirror's I suppose. I stay with my father, which I find interesting..it has taught me to be more patient. In 10 years, I hope to be healthy. I'm going to get there by eating well, won't give up smoking though so perhaps I won't get there. Oh well.. I always wanted to be a vet when I grew up. My family and friends thought that I was a an unlikely candidate. As it turns out, they were right.. I certainly didn't have the grades for that and besides really didn't care for school from the get go.
