Sidney's Story
I have been a volunteer at the Veterans Home in South Paris, Maine for the past 7 years. I have made friends with all of the Veterans and the staff. I'm also a volunteer for Hospice. I sit with the dying veterans. They like to tell me stories of the times they were fighting for our country in world war two. There isn't to many world war 2 veterans left. I was married for 47 years and my husband past away 7 1/2 years ago. He was a veteran. I took care of my husband for 10 years.
This week I was asked if I would help out in B Unit. Its very sad in B Unit. The Veterans don't know anyone and they all have Alzehmers. Some are in the early stages and are violent. I had to duck one punch but it didn't seem to bother me.
