I became an volunteer environmental advocate when a local oil company in Marcus Hook refused to honor Access Agreements and conduct Act II clean up and removal of toxic soil they left under 2205 and 2207 W. 11th Street Chester Township, PA following a spill as owner of the property the spill occurred. Their agent admitted not testing any soil in the basements of the homes the oil migrated and knowing the carbons in fuel oil cause leukemia a form of cancer, yet the environmental health and safety of residents is obviously not a concern of this oil company. I wonder how many residents will have to die in these homes before Chester Township officials demand the oil company honor 2001 Access and Indemnity Agreements by conducting Act II testing, remediation and removal of toxic soil under the basements of these homes and acquired a release from PADEP as they agreed to do, but did not. Legislation is needed to protect the rights of residential owners and residents/tenants following an oil spill as it protects the water ways, the forest and animals can you help?. It is criminal to require residents fight a billion dollar oil company when tax payers are paying EPA over Five Billion Dollars a year to protect our environmental health and safety. The state of Pennsylvania has very weak environmental laws and extremely poor enforcement with little or no protection for home owners. Is it because Philadelphia is the home of this oil company?
