Sally Jo's Story
After graduating from High School I attended college. First year was at a small church school in IL. Second was at El Camino, and third at Chico State. My last time was at Long Beach State where I graduated in in 1962. I married my first husband in 1961and also started teaching that year. I had my first child, a son (Garrett), in 1963. I was divorced in 1965. I left Southern CA in 1966 for Eureka CA where I taught school for nearly two years.
I was married again in 1968 to a Rancher in Southern Humboldt Co. We have a ranch of about 2800 acres where we raise cattle and sheep and Douglas Fir timber. My husband Richard and I had two more children, both daughters, one born in 1971(Joanna) and one in 1973 (Maurine). We are still married and just celebrated our 43rd anniversary.

wners of CA and on a local Board, the Mattole Restoration Council. Since we earn a good part of our income from the harvesting of timber, advocacy for reasonable regulations has been something I needed to pursue. It is very difficult to harvest timber in this state.
I have seven grandchildren and another one due in June. The two oldest are twelve and ten and are girls. The next are three boys all seven (a set of identical twins and their cousin). The last two are girls that are 3 and 2. The one on the way is a boy. A nice even four of each sex. They all live fairly close by, so they keep me busy.
I keep the books and do the business of the ranch as well as keep up with a fair size house and an acre or yard. I walk for exercise as much as I can. I do some traveling, mostly with Road Scholar (Elderhostel). My most recent trip was with Grand Circle Travel, a river boat trip, to Holland.
