Steven's Story
Spent the summer of 1971 in the mountains of NC where I met a young woman, Betty Lou. We went to Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, TN for the next two years and then were married in May 1973. I transferred to the University of Florida and graduated in the Fall of 1975. Betty Lou and I moved to the mountains of NC, near Asheville, and stayed there for the next four years. I taught as an Extension Instructor for two different community colleges in the area. Our first daughter was born in 1977 and in 1979 I joined the United States Air Force. I spent 27+ years in the Air Force serving as a KC-135/KC-10/C-5 pilot and was privileged to command 6 different organizations, including a deployed Wing (base) in the Global War on Terrorism. My last assignment was as the National Co...Expand for more
mmander of Air Force ROTC. After Air Force retirement we moved to Melbourne where I worked for Northrop Grumman on their Tanker Replacement Proposal. About a year and a half later we moved to Tampa, where I was an Instructor Pilot for FlightSafety teaching pilots at MacDill Air Force Base. After FlightSafety lost the contract to train all KC-135 Aircrew members, I became the Program Manager for CAE managing the program. I retired in 2013 and moved back to Melbourne. We have made our final move (we hope) to Windover Farms. Betty Lou and I have been married for 49 years now and have 5 daughters and 16 grandchildren. One daughter lives in Melbourne, three live in Oviedo, and one lives in Mobile, AL. We are involved in First Baptist Church Melbourne. We hope you have a blessed day.
