Bob's Story
In 1969, we moved to California from Kansas City, Mo., ending up in Clear Lake.
I was going to Upper Lake High when I decided to joined the Army (3d Armored Calvary as a RECON Scout) and dropped out during my senior year (1971). I spent three years in the 3d ACR, and after I was discharged, went back to Clear Lake (late 1974). After about a year I grew restless again and decided to try something else in the Army, so I reenlisted to become a Veterinary Food Inspector. While in the Army I went back to school and earned a degree from the University of Maryland.

retired from the Army, and started a second career. I now live outside San Antonio, Texas, and am a Vice-President for a major food processing company that produces and distributes commercial and retail food products nationwide.
I often think back about the years in Nice and Lucerne, the people I knew, the Lake, the fun in the sun in the summer-time, and I miss the naivety of it all. At the time I didn't know, or care, what I would be doing in a year let alone 10. I just lived for the moment, and I try to explain that and what the whole social atmosphere was like in the late 60's and early 70's to my nieces and younger friends, and they look at me like I'm nuts. But then, maybe I, we, were....just a little.
