John's Story
Life
After 2 years at the Jesuit seminary in Sheridan, 2 years of TCC, 2 years of political rabble-rousing, 2 years at Evergreen State College, I finally graduated and went to work as a land-use planner in Clark County. Got married to a good Lutheran girl, had 3 kids, one son-in-law, 3 grandkids, and we have been guardians for a now 22 yr old grandniece since she was 3 months old. y studies for a Masters in Organizational Communication at Marylhurst University while working as a team developer/supervisor at the downtown Portland, Oregon library for 2 years.. I then went back to land use planning as a Senior Planner in Vancouver, WA for several years before my final career move to work for the Oregon Dept of Transportation, developing scenario planning guidelines to help communities adjust to the impacts of climate change. I retired in 2013 and retreated to our farm south of Portland to grow organic vegetables, walk in the woods, travel, do family history research, be a family man, and enjoy life.
