Bryan's Story

Life Since High School?! OK, here is the "Readers Digest Version." Ended up at Oregon State University. Continued ROTC there, and earned my commission in 1988. Met the love of my life, and got married at 21 years, and we both finished college together and graduated in 1990. I had a degree in engineering, so I went to work for the Portland District Corps of Engineers, as a civil engineer, in Portland, OR. I had a 10 year carrer with the Corps, that ended up moving me out to Maryland in 1994 (just after attend the 10-yr High School reunion). We had our two boys while living in Maryland. My wife went back to school, got her RN degree, and after 2 years of experience started a nursing agency. I was doing the business/contract stuff part-time, but it grew so much that part-time wasn't good enough. In 2000 I quit the government, and went into business for ourselves on a full-time basis. God has blessed our family, our business, and given us healthy, wonderful children. Life has had its ups and downs, but I must admit I am enjoying the journey! Military I did not go active duty, but I did get my commission...Expand for more
through ROTC in 1988 on the Early Commissioning program. I branched Engineers, and joined the 1249th Engineers while I finished college. In 1990, I graduated and went to Ft. Leonardwood to finish Office Basic Course. When I came back to Oregon, I joined the 162nd Engineer Company as a platton leader. I then became XO, the commander of that company in Portland, OR, before my civilian job moved me to Maryland. In Maryland, I found a home in the 337th EN Company, Pennsylvania National Guard. I was the Tactical Operatios Officer, then the Logistics Office (S4). I moved up to the 28th Division, G4, Division Transportation Officer slot in order to get a promotion to O-4. That was successful, but I missed the engineers, and moved to the S4 slot at the 28th Engineer BDE HQ at Ft. AP Hill, Virginia. I am still there, and will be enligible to retire with 20 years in March 2005. Yeah, I think I will take the opportunity and retire. With the possiblility of deployment so high, and after attending the funeral of two of our soldiers, I am ready to retire. As of May 28, 2005...I am officially US Army, MAJ, Retired!!
