A. Joy's Story

Hello, all. I hope this note finds you well and happy with your life. Although I am experiencing some signs of our "advancing" age, I am well and happy with my life. After high school and college, I started teaching history to high school students, given a lack of special ed teachers, I kept being assigned special ed history classes. le everywhere. My husband, whom I met while we were undergraduates at OCE, now WOU, had a similar career. We married when i was just 20. Now I look at marrying at age 20 as being a child bride! Fortunately, Roland is a wonderful guy and we've been happily married since 1973. I feel fortunate to have a good marriage that continues to last all these years, but Roland is a very good man. We are both now "retired" and enjoying life with our son, Nathan. It turned out that Nathan had developmental disabilities. Ironic, isn't it. Nathan, born in 1980, continues to shape our live in many, many positive ways, and continues to live with us. Over the years. Especially the first few years, we moved many times, always in Oregon, though, and to my regret, I have lost touch with so many people over the years. If you are interested, I would welcome reconnecting with many of you. Regardless, I wish you all the best. Joy
