Aaron's Story
Life
So if you remember me from high school, you probably would be surprised at me now. Maybe not. I spent most of my teenage years doing drugs, being sleep deprived, and having a general disrespect for authority. After I dropped out senior year, I got a diploma through correspondence school. In 2003 I moved to Tempe, Arizona, and attended a trade school called Roberto-Venn. I learned how to build guitars, and repair various stringed instruments. I had a hard time when school was over, because I stayed out here on my own. I didn't want to take a step backwards and move back in with my parents, but I was having trouble finding steady work, and the jobs I was finding were not fulfilling. After a few months, I decided to join the Army National Guard. I think it was the best decision I ever made. I'm prepar...Expand for more
ing for my first deployment right now.
School
Heh, I didn't go to school for any reason other than that I had to. It's amazing that I didn't get in a lot of trouble. The things that I got away with are staggering--and I think I got away with them partly because most of my teachers liked me, even though I was a horrible student. I had a GPA of 1.2 when I dropped out. Half the time I slept in class, but then I would randomly be inspired to actively participate. I refused to do any work. The only reason I made grades is because I would ace nearly every single test. I can't share my school memories here because I'd be confessing things that could get me into trouble.
Military
I'm in the Army National Guard, right now on Title-10 orders for deployment to Iraq. I'm in Mississippi training at the moment.
