Aaron's Story

My Story After graduation(67) I went to ball State that fall. Not ever having freedom and not being an adult I screwed up big time. Partied my way onto academic probation. I dropped out to help pay my parents back the money they had borrowed to send me there. May of 69 my friends and neighbors choice me for the army. I went in on June 3rd. I trained for what seemed like 2 yrs (actually June to Sept) at Ft Lenardwood, MO. In Oct. I shipped out to Nam. I was a combat air mobile engineer (ran heavy equipment). We built bases and landing zones. On Dec 3rd my father was hit by a car while he was crossing a street in Cedar Lake. He lived until Dec 13th. I arrived home on the 6th. I put in for a hardship discharge and received it the following Feb. I worked as a water driller¿s helper with Lowell Well & Pump co. (Lee (Willy) Carlson). Later that year I met and married Sharon Black. She was 6 yrs my senior and had 3 daughters, an instant family. We moved to Orlando, FL. I spent the next couple of years working for the mouse(Disney¿s own construction company). I was a journeyman carpenter. Sharon and I split up in 73 and I moved back to Shelby. After our divorce I met and married Vicki Dauber of Cedar Lake. We adopted our daughter(Amanda) in 1980. I served an electrical apprenticeship with Inland Steel. Worked there from 74 to 85. In 85 we moved to Lansing MI. and I went to work for GM. There it seemed that Scotty had beamed me up and put me down in the future. Electrically speaking everything I worked on at Inland had but installed in 1939¿..everything in Lansing was robotics and other automation. I felt like an apprentice again. I started taking classes from ...Expand for more
Lansing community college. There as at Purdue for my apprenticeship my GPA was 3.7, Nam was one hell of an attitude adjustment. Because I had gone to school and learned computer systems, when Saturn put out the call for electricians I was able to qualify for their new plant. We moved from Lansing to Columbia, TN in Oct of 1985. Because of my training and aging Vicki and I grew apart. And in 99 she asked me for a divorce. Later that year I met (in person) a beautiful lady that I had been chatting with for about 2.5 yrs. She invited me down for a long weekend at the beach. Her home was south of Tallahassee and 20 minutes from the beach. Naturally we got married, that meeting told us both that we were in love. Things went well for me at Saturn. I was an electrical tech and an A MA, Area Module Advisor for the engine building and assembly area of Saturn (superintendent of maintenance at other plants). In 2004 Edna and I bought our gold wing motorcycle and had it turned in to a trike. We loved riding that trike. We joined the GWRRA and became officers in the org. We were the chapter directors(leaders of the group) Unfortunately in 2007 I had a total lapse in judgment and let members of our staff convince me that they needed to talk to us, mostly to Edna. Well that meeting went terribly wrong. I took their side and not my wife¿s. I was being a director not a husband. That meeting has cost me another marriage. We have been separated since that day. She is living in FL and me here in Tenn. We haven¿t divorced yet but may. We have 4 grandchildren. My daughter has 2 girls and Edna¿s son has 2 boys. Well that¿s probably more story than ya wanted.
