One of Adam's favorite quotes is:"âI was that, which others cared not be. I went where others feared to go and did what others failed to do. I asked nothing from those who gave nothing and, reluctantly, accepted the thought of eternal lonelinessâ¦should I fail. I have seen the face of terror, felt the chill of fear, and warmed to the touch of love. I have hoped, pained, cried. But foremost, lived in times others would say were best forgotten. At the very least, in later days, I will be able to say with the greatest pride, that I was indeed a SOLDIER.â Author Unknown".
More about Adam:"You never know how precious life is until you're told you have to fight to live.
4 years ago I was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder called MDS, myelodysplastic syndrome (only common in 50 and 60 year olds) 6 ...Expand for more
months after that, I was also diagnosed with AML, acute myeloid leukemia. I have been through 7 sessions of chemotherapy and 9 sessions of radiation. I received a stem cell transplant in August of 2007 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo. I am now currently in remission. I was only given a 5% chance of ever having kids. My daughter Kaylee is a true miracle and a blessing. I chose Neveah (heaven spelled backwards) for her middle name because she truly is a gift from heaven. I was medically discharged and retired from the Army in 06 when I was first diagnosed. It's been a rough 3 years but I made it through everything. I had both hips totally replaced in 2009 and in February of this year I had my right shoulder partially replaced. All that really matters, I guess, is that I find the strength to walk around with a smile on my face and my head held high every day. Thank you to my wife Michelle, my mom, and all the other family members and friends who supported me through my hard times and to this very day. I could never thank you guys enough.".
