Adam's Story
Life
Okay, so after H.S. I rushed off to college, attending PITT in Johnstown - the city where I grew up in Western PA. In college I headed the Programming Board Band/Dance committee and hired and organized the concert events. I also played percussion in a band as well. After my softmore year I realized that I wanted to pursue a career in music and motion pictures, but I was poorly advised and stayed at UPJ even though their Communications course could only train me for a career in Public Relations and Marketing. After receiving a BA in Communication, I did a short stint at a local radio station selling and producing radio spots for various local clients. Unsatisfied and wanting to see what the film industry was like, I moved to Wilmington, NC and started working in the small film community there.
In Wilmington I did set lighting on a few motion pictures and worked as a production assistant on a few others. I considered this my "graduate school" since I was learning what I was interested in, not what other's told me ...Expand for more
was important. By 2000 I was employed at the local ABC affiliate station producing, directing, and editing local television commercials. Wilmington is a great town, and I had a great time there, but still sought the deeper waters of the bigger pond, so in 2001 I moved to Los Angeles.
In LA I have yet to work on any motion pictures, but have worked as a Production Assistant on a few reality shows - ie: Fear Factor, The Batchelor, JKX. I also produced a short movie and a reality TV show pilot called "Pickup Artist" that I co-created and pitched it to a few companies, but as of yet there are no takers. In the meantime, I'm working as a video editor in a boutique documentary company to pay the bills, and working on a low-budget feature script I hope to produce next year.
Oh yeah, music is still my favorite hobby, so I play drums in a local garage-style band and also sing and play guitar as a solo artist at local open-mikes for fun.
Cheers - and drop a line.
