Adrian's Story

After graduation in may I worked for a few months for Jacobsen Construction and the Plaza Theaters. In October I left for a two year mission for the LDS Church To South Austraila. Austraila was great, I met many wonderful people and some great things there. I got back to Yuma in time to get hired at Mervyns for their opening. I started in the shoe deparment and moveed over to men's deparment after a while. After a few years I came to the realization that retail was not for me. All thoe I made some great friends and learned alot It wasn't for me. I worked for small construction company for a bit but they went out of busness. I started working for Nic Curtis at the Iron Scroll, welding and fabricating wrought iron. Ithought that is was great to be able to create things from basic materials. After awhile I needed to get out of town, my parents were going through a bad devorice and I was getting draged into their mess. In June of '86 I moved up to Flagstaff whith some friends. Oh my gosh Flagstaff was so fun I had such a good time there. It didn't matter where I worked, there was always something to do. In '89 I joined the AZ Army National Guard and went to boot camp in Jun...Expand for more
e. Boot camp was in Ft. McClennen AL it was a long hot humid eight weeks. From there I went to Explosive Ordnance Disposal school at Eglin AFB in FL. Now that was killer it was the hardest thing I had ever done but the most interesting. While there I met a cute little blond girl from Detroit. We got married at phase two in MD. I ended up getting shipped over to Desert Shield/ Storm on the Dec. 22 of '90. I was sent home in March of '91 to be with my wife and new son, Alex was permature and weight 4lb 4oz. Is was so exciting when he would drink his 2oz of formula. Alex is no 6'3". We moved from FL back to AZ for a bit. In August of '91 we moved to ID to be with my sister Becky after here husband was killed in a accident. We we're up there till Oct. '93 at which point we decided we weren't potato farmers so we came back to AZ and settled down here in good ol Yuma. In Feb. of '94 we bought Earsel Byrd's old house on 1st street. So over the years we had another son Robert, who is also taller than me. Both my boys went to Yuma High Robert is planning on going to NAU this fall ('14). My wife Elaine works at AWC and I currently work out at the proving grounds blowing things up.
