Adrienne's Story
UPDATE July 16, 2011 - Still in Port Charlotte, working day-to-day as ususal with heavy heart and frustration.
We have lost my older brother Pat this past Mother's Day, May 8, 2011, very unexpectedly. He had been awaiting his final three year check-up of being cancer-free of his testicular cancer when his blood tests came back with leukemia cells. It was very surprising because history only had one case, in the early eighties, of a prior chemo treated cancer patient receiving a second cancer of leukemia created from the prior type cancer. Pat went into the hospital where he was healthly 230 lbs, looking great, living life and we were all optimistic all would go well. he chance to find out. The cells were just too aggressive and I watched my big brother go from being healthly and strong, both mentally and physically, to someone I could no longer recognize. In 7 weeks he was gone.
The family has lost the one that fought to keep us together all these years after my father past, in 1982, and now we just don't know what to do. My mother is having a very difficult time. My brother Chris, who is a Fire-Fighter/Paramedic, was there every day to help ensure Pat had the best of care and make him as comfortable as possible. I know it took a lot to be stronger than the brother we always had to be strong for us, but Chris did it all and tried so hard to help make an frightening, inevidable life change occur.
We miss you Pat and find it hard to move on without you here...I love you...
