Adrienne's Story
Life
I have lived in the Charleston, WV area since graduating from Ohio University in 1980. I have been married for 26 years to Brian Farkas, who I met at Ohio University. We have 3 sons -- Ben, Alex and Will. Ben is just about to finish his political science degree at Virginia Tech and Alex is beginning his third year at Savannah (GA) College of Art and Design. Will is in eighth grade. We live in an old farmhouse in Elkview, about 10 miles from downtown Charleston. n organization with 13 offices, 100 people and about a $7 million budget. We provide legal services and advocacy to the state's vulnerable and poor. I've worked in non-profit or advocacy work for my whole career. Prior to heading legal aid, I directed our state's Women's Commission.
I love living in West Virginia -- it is beautiful, slower paced and has the kinds of systems (political and otherwise) where a person can really make a difference.
I haven't been good at all about staying in touch with Madison people. Although I am in Madison every 3-4 months to visit my parents, I don't ever seen anyone I know!
