Aileen's Story
Life
When I was in high school my wish was to live in a commune on top of a mountain. To my great surprise that's exactly(well almost) where I am. Actually I live in a kibbutz in Israel; the last place you would expect a nice Irish Catholic girl to wind up.
During my college years in CCNY I decided to convert to Judaism, met a nice religious boy and married & lived in Brooklyn. We lived there for our first 5 years (& two children) but our plan was to live on kibbutz....Expand for more
We left before I could complete my degree in CCNY so - after quite a few years I returned to study (from scratch) and did my BA degree in English & Education at Haifa University. I am now head of the English department at a regional religious kibbutz high school and completing my MA in English Lit at the Hebrew University. I have 4 adult children - all girls, 3 married & the youngest is about to do her army service. I have 6 grandchildren and a very interesting life.
