Al's Story

Life I was born in Buffalo, NY in 1956. I grew up in Kenmore, NY until 1972. For the next 12 years I would live in several cities amidst college and work in Ohio, and Indiana before moving to Massachusetts in 1984. I have been married to the same long-suffering wife for over 21 years and have four great children School I would have graduated in June 1974 from Kenmore West High School in Kenmore, New York... and in fact, I was there for that Graduation including several memorable car rides with a myriad of drivers that night... However, in September 1972 my family moved to Wickliffe, Ohio and I would graduate from Wickliffe High School in 1974. No regrets. It was a great two years and I met a lot of great people. College My years at Kent State were certainly memorable. Not every school offers you the opportunity to visit the Goodyear blimp hanger at 4am the night before a final, to collect tear gas cannisters inside the dorm, to taunt President Olds and Senator Mondale at the same time, and to teach an aging Greek professor how to play backgammon. I hesitate to mention friends, out of fear of leaving one out. The Apple Hall gang, Student Government cronies, Advising and Orientation comrades, ODK compatriots, and who can forget Model UN or the Distinguised Scholarship Award weekends.. Favorite moments would be tough (I started with a Top Ten List and look what happenned) but might include: 40) Thunder Thighs and the rest of the 76-77 dorm staff 39) Tom Burrows vs. the Lunch Ladies in the Schwebel Room 38) Dr. Boczek crucifying Rich in class "You do have glasses, Mr. Cline, you do know how to read" 37) Any Apple Hall Banquet- Swims in the Cuyahoga, Rosy Palm Awards, and all.. 36) Reviewing applicants for Who's Who in American Colleges and wondering how you get listed in "American Hot-Rod" 35) Mosey. mosey. mosey.... 34) Any and every adventure with the red Fury 33) Halter tops and why not to have a joint checking account in college 32) One messed up punch card meaning another trip to the computer center. 31) 7am phone calls from Dr. Olds 30) Learning why Taxi Driver is not a good first-date movie 29) Having a bio-chem major for a roommate and the glories of touch powder. 28) Hiding the classic Apple Hall ...Expand for more
