Al Sikes:

CLASS OF 1985
Branford, FL

Al's Story

Life There I was...left Branford and moved to White Springs December 1984...after 11.5 years of BHS. Anyhow...I graduated from HCHS in Jasper on schedule. Played around as an apprentice glazier for a few months. When that career path went dry I enlisted and left for Air Force in May 1986. February 1987 I returned to FLA and was stationed at Hurlburt Field out in the panhandle. Met the lovely wife Kimberley there on the beach, well...she became the wife May 1988. December 1989 Tyler was born. Didn't get to play with him for long, Uncle Sam sent me to Korea for a year in August 1990. While there we recieved orders to Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. Arrived there August 1991, and was blessed with Trevor January 1993. The time limit is 8 years at an Alaska base, so we left Elmo November 1999 and drove through a snowstorm up to Fairbanks and Eielson Air Force Base. Here we bought a house in the woods, got a dog, and started making plans. I finally retired from AF active duty August 2007, 2 months after starting a civil service career as an electronic industrial controls mechanic (instrumen...Expand for more
t tech) at the base power plant. Ty graduates from North Pole High School this school year, and still hasn't decided a career path. He's a guru with computers, but can swap an engine or transmission as well. We're hoping he doesn't get too far from home...we'll see. Trevor just started high school, and is just a nutcase. He can do whatever he wants, and everyone he meets is a friend. Both like the outdoors, especially when the temperatures are positive. They both ride snowmachines and wheelers around the house and out in the boonies. Kim can hardly stand to watch their antics! We spend summers in the yard and garden in between fishing and prospecting trips. August and September are strictly reserved for outdoor pursuits "aimed" at filling the freezer. Kim and I both have bear rugs on the wall, and the boys have done their part with the harvesting of moose meat. Back in the tobacco patches of my youth I always dreamed of living in a place where I would be able to enjoy the summers without sweating nearly to death...well...to that end I have been very successful! Cheers! 30 Nov 2007
