Alan's Story
Life
I live in Campbell River on the East side of Vancouver Island. I have been married 24 years and have 1 son who is 15. My wife and I both work in Campbell River. We have lived in Gold River, Port Clements on the Queen Charlotte Islands, Sayward, and now Campbell River for 9 years. I hold a full time and part time job and my wife works part time as a teacher. I plan on retiring from the Forest Industry in about 3 years and carry on part time as an Ambulance Paramedic. I enjoy sports cars and presently own a 1993 Mazda RX-7. I enjoy walking and mountain bike riding. We take some tropical vacations and I have travelled extensively in Alberta, BC, Washington, Oregon, and California, usually in the sports car. I have been in Edmonton very regularly as my Mom in care in Edmonton.
College
I took a year off after graduating from High Sc...Expand for more
hool. I moved to Squamish BC and got a job framing houses. I skied every chance I got and stayed there until the Spring. I was accepted into the FOrestry Program at U of A but decided That was not for me. I applied for NAIT in Edmonton for their Forestry Program. I was accepted and went the following year. The first year was in Edmonton and the second year was in Hinton Alberta.
Workplace
I work for Western Forest Product Inc. I am a Regional Appraisal Administrator at the Menzies Bay office just North of Campbell River on Vancouver Island. I have been in the industry for 30 years now, and on the Island for 25, I also spent five years on the Queen Charlotte Islands. As well as Forestry, I am also a Paramedic for the Provincial Ambulance Service in the Campbell River Station. I have been doing this about as long as the forestry stuff.
