Alan's Story
Life
I spent 30 years (20 Active + 10 Reserves) in the USMC (Air Traffic Control) then got into industrial robotics, Nuclear Power plants, and a few other areas. Currently reside in Cape Coral Florida on the Gulf Coast. 2 Children, 2 Grandkids, extremely happy in my current (2nd) marriage of 19 years. Would love to hear from former classmates as I've not been to Ventura for many years.
Would be great if someone has scanned the 64 yearbook, as mine got destroyed many years ago while I was in Viet Nam. I want to give thanks again to Butch Bell who scanned my "Then" pic from the yearbook. Thanks Butch!
Workplace
Upon retirement from the Marine Corps, I got into Robotics and Nuclear Refueling Systems (Robotics School 1984-1988). Became a Supervisor at CimCorp Precision Systems (Robotics & Nuclear Refueling Systems) in St. Paul (1988-1990). Started a Robotics Consulting Co. (TRACON Robotics & Nuclear Refueling Systems 1990-1995)in St. Paul. TRACON was inducted into "The Who's Who Registry" Global Edition 1993, 1994, & 1995. Became a Supervisor at Motoman Robotics Technical Training Center (1995-1999)in Dayton (too damn cold in MN), then Director at Robotics Workspace Technologies in Fort Myers, FL (1999-2000) (Too much snow in Dayton), and fin...Expand for more

Military
Shortly after graduation in '64 I went into the Marine Corps. After initial Boot Camp and ITR I was sent to Memphis for training, and then on to Air Traffic Controller school in Glynco, Georgia (1965). Stationed at New River MCAS Air Traffic Control facility (Tower and GCA) till 1969. Finally got to Viet Nam in '69. As critical MOS 6712/6713, my Air Traffic Controller rating was in short supply, so it was tough to get to 'Nam. Once there, as a Sgt, I was an Air Traffic Controller (MATCU) at Marble Mountain and then volunteered and flew combat missions as a .50 cal. H-46 aerial gunner (HMM-263). Made SSgt (E6) in RVN. Decided to stay an additional year at Danang Air Base as USMC ATC Liaison and an Radar Approch Control Supervisor (7324). Came back from RVN in '71. Promoted to GySgt (E7) in '72, MSgt (E8) in '80, selected for MGySgt (E9) in 84 but decided to try something new & more fun (Industrial Robotics and Nuclear Refueling Systems) in the civilian sector.
