Alan's Story
I finally left Michigan in May 2013. I had an opportunity to move to South Carolina and settled in Simpsonville, SC. My wife landed a job as well and followed me soon after. The surrounding area is beautiful and we decided to make this our retirement location. We purchased a second house on Lake Keowee in Seneca SC. This will be our retirement home. ught a second home up there and did the; Memorial day, Fourth of July, a week in August and Labor day run. I couldn't figure out why I owed a second home for 14 days a year. It felt like a timeshare. Well, summer in Michigan is about 8 weeks. Down here, I start swimming in the lake in April and I was in the water on Halloween. I have mountains if I want to snow ski or go white water rafting. The coast is about 4 hours away, about the same drive to Gaylord from Detroit. I can't wait to retire.
