Albert's Story
Life
I graduated in 1976. A year has already gone by since 30 year reunion. I was in a conversation with a woman whose name escapes me. She kept mentioning how quiet I was in high school. I couldn't tell if she kept repeating this fact as a result of drinking too much or afflicted with some impediment. It doesn't really matter the fact is, I was very shy. Today I'm more sure of myself. But knowing who I am did not come without a price. I had to meet Bill Wilson. I'll expand on this later.
After graduation, I went off to community college for a year. I searched for many years trying to find myself as many of us probably did. I've worked in many jobs like restaurants, hotels, bar tending, HR, car sales, tire sales, retail, and software. I now work in development at WGBH in Brighton.
I occasionally spin records and CDs (does one actually spin CDs?) on a jazz program at a small station on the South Shore. I love all kinds of music. My favorites are standards, jazz and classical. I love to sing.
When I was in school, I loved TV, now it's radio. Eric In the Evening is the best for jazz. I sometimes listen to the Blues on ...Expand for more
GBH or PLM as they have a five hour Sinatra show. I love Sinatra but I must admit 5 hours is a long time to be with Sinatra. My favorite artist is the late great Sammy Davis Jr.
I enjoy, for the most part experiencing life. I'm also a friend of Bills. (some of you will get that.) I sometimes find myself observing life as if I were watching a film. I've had to learn alot over the years and it hasn't always been easy. I don't think it was intended to be easy.
Since I've been dating this lovely woman, I find myself more active than I used to be. We go to museums, New York, theatre, movies, symphony, and the pops. We recently saw Oklahoma. I occasionally go to book readings as I love books and book stores. The Trident on Newbury street is great as it's a restaurant and bookstore in one. You can actually take books and magazines off the shelf and read them at the table.
I was in a community theatre gig last year called Fiddler On the Roof. I had the part of the bar keeper. It was the first time I was in production since college and the biggest part I've ever had.
I have two loves in my life: My kookie dog and my wife.
