Alecia's Story
In school I played volleyball, and threw discus and put the shot for Track & Field. At that time I planned on becoming a business manager. I worked for ShopKo from 1987 to 1994. In 1990 I married Donald Atwood from Goldendale.
I answered a "Personals" ad in the Ruralite in June,1988. We finally met face-to-face March 31, 1989. We hit it off and were married April 28, 1990. We enjoyed our life together; waiting for a child to come along. We lost one child (a girl) January 2, 1993. Waiting awhile more. . . .We had Kirsten on August 26, 1994. No more children. She was our "miracle child". I had anxiety attacks when I had to leave her at home with her father, so I had to leave work. (Apparently Kirsten had the same problem as she was a bear for her father when I worked.) :o} Donald worked three more years then his father called requesting our help (as he was 78 years old and feeling it). That's when we moved to Goldendale. His parents have passed on now and we have the property in rural Goldendale. We like it here and are doing fine. I'm the volunteer manager at the local food bank (guess that's as...Expand for more
close to a business manager as I got:-}). Donald is a security guard.
Kirsten is 17 and a senior in high school. (Where does the time go)She is going to University of South New Hampshire via the internet (even cheaper than community college!) where she will major in Creative Writing.
She plans on becoming an author of juvenile to young adult books. She has been writing since she was 11 yrs. old! I pray she does well in her life and finds the husband the Lord has for her.
Since Kirsten has come into my life, so my Faith has increased. We (all three of us) are members of the local Southern Baptist Church where we (Kirsten and I) are active. I direct and teach Vacation Bible School, while Kirsten teaches the 3-5 year old children how to do the crafts and assists the adult teacher. She has taught Crafts since the summer after 7th grade. She really enjoys it. This year she will be on crutches while teaching as she will have a knee surgery on June 12. Tibial Tubular Osteotomy. Big words. The surgeon will align her right tibia with the femur, hopefully stopping her patella from sliding back and forth.
