Alex's Story
I grew up in east Manatee (hole in the wall) which at that time had a close knitted family environment. My mother & father were my heroes/idols. After high school I was drafed into the Army. In 1969 I shipped out to fight in 'Nam' as an infantryman. Nam changed my life in so many ways. Even though I was in a war zone, racism continued to raise it's ugly head throughout my military service. Upon reteurning to the World(USA), I was a changed man & didn't even know it. eral decades of being lost in the wilderness, I made a decision to go to Florida A&M university; graduating in 39 months with a degree in Journalism. After college I worked for a tv station in Jacksonville,Fl as a photojournalist. From J-ville I went to Miami & worked at channel 7 in the same capacity. I went to Tacoma,Wa in 1990 and worked at the largest mental health hospital in America as a couselor. I was medically retired in 2004 after being viciously attacked by a patient.
