Alex's Story
Life
I have not been back to Irmo or Charleston in years! After college, I lived in Washington, DC, then got my master's degree at Ohio State. I now live near New York City, and I work as an urban planner. I spend my free time jogging, going to the gym, going out with friends, and traveling. I also now practice capoeira fighting, a Brazilian marial art that is somewhat of a cross between karate and acrobatics. I'm really getting into it, and I just got back from a special capoeira event in Rio De Janeiro this August. Loved Rio. sed to be the one teaching him about life and growing up, I think he is actually the one teaching me about life, especially because he knows how to survive in some of the toughest inner-city situations imaginable.
Life is good, and there are many things for which I am greatful. I am amazed that my life has developed the way it has. My life is so different from what it was like in high school! I never thought I would wind up in New Jersey, loving it. Its funny how things evolve.
Feel free to drop me a line, especially if you are planning to visit New York City anytime soon. I would love to hear how things are back in South Carolina.
Now as an added chapter in my life, I just bought a house. It is an old Victorian row house in Newark's Ironbound District. I can't wait to start "enhancing" it. The location is unbeatible. I think it is a good investment. Anyone with advice on doing a rehab, please let me know!
