Mary's Story

Life I am married to a wonderful man that is from Long Beach Calif. We have been married for 19 years and have a7 year old son and a 6 year old daughter I am a Social Worker for Riverside County Department of Public Social Services and am living and loving every day of my life. College I attended RCC right after high school then later transfered to Cal State San Bernardino where I obtained a degree in Psychology. I did alot of partying during my college days and to this day alot of those memories are still fuzzy but I'll never forget our late night drives to TJ to party with the hunks from the USMC and all those wonderful "Tequila Sunrise" hangovers. Viva TJ, the USMC and USN!!! Workplace Right after high school I started working part time at Thrifty's in Sun City. I worked there until 1994 and in 1997 began working for Riverside County Department of Public Social Services. I started in Child Protective Services and later moved to Adult Protective Services. In 2007 I returned to work with Child Protective Services where I continue to work until this day as a Social Worker. My job can be very stressful at times but I enjoy the challenge and the reward of helping children who are at risk for abuse and neglect. I always wanted to be a hair stylist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was an okay idea. As it turns out, they were right. SCRAPBOOKING, READING, RUBBERSTAMPING Spending money always helps me!! If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have a big boot , to kick butt, and a Coke to be able to deal with the day-to-day. My best friend would tell you I'm a beotch but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as nice, yeah right. In 10 years, I hope to be retired. I'm go...Expand for more
ing to get there by buying more rental properties. My first job was at Thriftys Drug store, where I got paid pennies to serve old farts ice cream and ring up their booze. What I remember most about it is the crazy parties after work. When I was a child we lived on Newport Road in Menifee, in an old house that sat on miles and miles of wheat fields. In the spring when the wheat was green and the wind blew the wheat fields looked like the ocean waves. I remember sitting in the middle of the wheat fields while the wind blew, it was heaven and even now I fondly remember those moments of pure bliss. The wheat fields are gone now and in their place are tons of new homes but I live with those memories of the wheat fields etched in my heart. My father is my hero, because he came to this country when he was very young to find a better life for himself and his family. My father struggled all his life but died a proud stubborn man. I admire his tenacity, will and ability to stand behind his convictions. Hopefully I inherited his direct, no nonsense approach and learned never to take any poop from anybody regardless of who they are and what they represent. In other words, I'm not scared to use any weapon in my arsenal in my pursuit for what I believe. I love you and miss you dad!! Thanks for making me who I am, I know you died knowing that regardless of what happened you never had to worry about me because "I had it made" The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is my dad Juan, because I miss him and love him. If I won $100 million, I'd give part of it to charity , then spend the rest on Taylor, Alex and I. My current age is 40. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old. I was so completely right.
