Lesley's Story
Hmmmmm, it's a little intimidating trying to sum up 20+ years into a neat little paragraph. How do you write about life's adventures, loves lost and found and all the things you've learned since 1988 without opening old wounds and stirring up memories, good and bad? Well....after grad, I became a travel agent and explored the world by areoplane for awhile. I was living in San Francisco during the big earthquake in 1989 (make sure you're prepared!!!)and then got married to a wonderful, amazing guy in Victoria. Sadly our views on having children differed, and we went our seperate ways. (My fault, not his...)
I moved to the UK to get over him and lived in Scotland, and in the north and south of England before going to work on cruise ships for a few years. It's easier to say where I haven't been as it would take ages to say where I did get to, but I did make it to every continent (even Antarctica twice!)and Rapa Nui (Easter Island). Life on board ships is amazing, and I would recommend it to anyone, as it is truly life changing.
I came back to Victoria in 2001 to visit my family, then met my fabulous husband-to-be...Expand for more
by chance when a mutual friend invited us both out for drinks. Proving yet again what a small world we live in.... Alex and I have known the same people from all over the Island, but had never met one another. We had an fantastic wedding in 2004 up at Pine Lodge Farm in Mill Bay, surrounded by 275 of our family and friends from all over the world.
Since then we have bought a 6 bedroom 1950's house in Victoria, and are still unpacking Alex's cd collection. (I think we need more room!) We are blessed with wonderful friends, family, and our two 'fur-children' Scamp and Miss Kitty. We really enjoy entertaining and are working on plans to develop the back yard into an 'italian piazza' complete with a mini (I mean really mini!) vineyard now that the Island has become the new 'wine region' of BC.... although it seems that my version of what's italian differs from Alex's!!!
There are definately people I would like to get in touch with again....you know who you are! Feel free to drop me a line at lesleybutterfield at hot mail dot com.
I hope this finds you healthy and happy, wherever you may be in the world!
