Alex's Story

Life Those that knew me know that I didn't walk with you at graduation in 1969. Instead I had enlisted in the Army and finished my education and was awarded my diploma by the Minneapolis School Board, who credited my graduation to Edison. Unfortunately my military career was cut short due to an injury and I returned to Minnesota with an Honorable Discharge. I met and married Kathy and had a son, Alex III and a daughter Sara. I continued my education as I worked and earned a couple of State Engineering licenses, among a few other awards and licenses. I also started working for the City of Minneapolis and worked in three different division, including 20 years as the Library's Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds. My last few years were as the Library's Superintendent of Capital Projects, which had me working on not only the new Central Library, but also several renovations of community libraries. t doors and you will see the role I played creating that building for those living in Nordeast. I commented that I worked on those projects the last few years I worked there because a few years ago I decided to try something different and retired from the City of Minneapolis. What that something else is, in-addition to some other projects, is working for the Anoka County Corrections Department as a surveillance officer in Adult Programs. I'm a probation officer that monitors people on monitored pe-trial release and electronic monitoring as a condition of sentence. After 20+ years Kathy and I divorced and I have remained single since. I am proud of both of my children and Sara has made me a grandfather with a daughter, Rebecca. I moved out of Minneapolis years ago and have been living in the Cambridge/Isanti area. I currently have a little hobby ranch with horses, dogs and cats. Even-though I've been living outside of Minneapolis for years I had, and still do, spend a lot of my free time visiting the old neighborhood.
