Alex's Story

It's such a poetic look at a section of myLife that I can't get myself to erase the following: Been there, done that, now doing it again and again. Screenwriters & ghostwriters feel free to contact me - I'm told I should write my life story. Recently (last few years) I've been the poster child for downsizing & age discrimination via up, out, & replace. Pippi the cat apparently knew something: in the summer of my year-plus disemployment she trained me to become an early riser (which you of course know is not a typical "Mole" attribute). Friends no longer inform me when they run into my acquantances in far corners of the world - I guess we've all become a bit more sedentary. I did catch up with one old friend - ask me how & who; it's an affirming story (and sorry but no, it did not involve 'classmates.') Do you want to hear about the homeless experiences? The various ex-roommates? My decades in the book busines? Well, answer me! <<<written fall 2005 & edited summer & fall '07>>> Tough couple of years: more gray hairs, less head hair overall, more financial probs, more cats (well, 2 of the 3 are not actually mine). Overall, life's still interesting and annoying, thoroughly confusing. Ya' know, I'm even having to work my artistic side overtime, since someone stole my cardboard box full of song lyrics & other poetry in various stages of completion. By the way, in the future you won't be enjoying me checking you...Expand for more
r property and your self while entering San Jose Mineta International Airport - Homeland Security sought me out then decided they didn't want me. Here it is 2014 (I don't know the year where you may be): I'm working in security (find me on LinkedIn / I do not use Facebook) in Santa Clara Valley, still poor but alive. Speaking of "alive", Pippi the Cat still is with me - she must be at least ten years old. I'll have to check & get back to you'all on that. I've been through some of my own medical issues (haven't we all?); my mom - some of you may remember her - passed away just over two years ago at age 93. That is a good, long life she had! Military No military service - did you really think I'd eventually join up? I was Selective Service rated 4-G ("Surviving son of a deceased veteran, ineligible for selection to service during peacetime," and you know we the USA have not been in an official war declared by Congress in quite a long time.) My brother, however, has been in the Coast Guard for a career, & is now out. You know that the USCG has moved from the Transportation Dept to Homeland Security, ?don't you? So those of you in the military: I salute you (or something similar to a salute - ?am i allowed to salute?). I've sometimes wondered who among my childhood friends and acquaintances became a serviceman or servicewoman, and what transpired thereby <not often wondered, but every once in a long while>.
