Alexa's Story
Time has gone by too quickly. I have managed somehow to have two daughters who are lovely people. My oldest lives in the Seattle area. She is fighting stage 4 breast cancer, we are in for the long haul, another 4 years before she will be considered a survivor. Inflammatory breast cancer is just plain nasty. I am so proud of how she has dealt with this, much better than I have. My younger daughter is in Phoenix, and I have returned also. She has the most remarkable little girl who will be 1 on October 31st. I have just the one grandchild, but I have the best.
For the last many years I have worked with Vietnam Veterans, helping to file claims and appeals, and help in dealing with the VA. The issue of agent orange is foremost in what I do. Too many have been lost to this and yet it is ignored. I am trying to ...Expand for more
change that.
I was married not long after graduation, and not much longer after that. My next was a Vietnam Vet, who passed 12 years ago as a result of agent orange. Not much has turned out to be what I thought it might be. I managed to put together a college education by working mostly in Universities and colleges, taking classes for free. An event free life is fine with me. I have had enough of the other.
I returned to the area after 20 years in TX. I have no idea why I was there so long, except for the wonderful storms (we rarely got hit too hard) and the beautiful wildflowers. I don't like Tempe anymore, and Phoenix is too big.
For the most part I have given my time for many years to working with battered women and the Vietnam Vets. Today, my little grandaughter, Alice aka Bubbles, has my attention.
