Alice's Story
I attended Pelican Elementary School and KUHS from 2nd grade through 11th grade. My family moved to Marysville California my senior year. After graduating from Marysville High I lived in Florida, Louisiana, Oregon where my husband completed his PhD. We then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where he accepted a position at St. Mary's College. Once our daughter entered 6th grade, I attended St. Mary's College where I graduated with a BA in Liberal Arts and a MA in Education. I retired from teaching elementary school 2 years ago. During my teaching career I taught 1st through 5th grade however mostly 2nd & 3rd grade in Pittsburg, CA. I also spent numerous summers giving workshops to English teachers in Thailand. mer travels abroad were to India, Germany, Greece, Italy, Egypt, and Israel where we lived with or among the culture. Sports I am passionate about are horseback riding, cross country skiing, roller skating, bicycling, canoeing, hiking - generally outdoor sports. My husband and I have been married 47 years and have one daughter and as of April 16, 2013 our twin grandson's were born in Colorado Springs, CO. I helped my daughter, her husband with the twins their first 2 months. After spending 3 months in Colorado, I returned home. Now that the twins are experimenting with talking, discovering hands and feet, I am ready to spend another 2-3 months to enjoy their development. It is so nice to be retired. I can travel anytime!
