Alice's Story
Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I'm a pretty good Prayer Warrior for my family and friends.
June 2007 -- My husband (of almost 40 years) and I moved to Seattle about 8 years ago. Both our children and my husband's elderly mother lived here. Now our children have moved away. We hope to return to Eastern Washington some day--or maybe Hawaii.
I am the "editor" for a 2 section, 40 page monthly newspaper for a non-profit trade association. I put quotes around editor because I do almost everything including soliciting advertising and articles, ad design and page layout and design. I enjoy my work.
My husband has been retired, but recently started working in Real Estate.
I still love the water. I especially enjoy snorkeling in the tidal pools off the Big Island, HI or using a hooka set-up to catch crawdads in fresh water (being able to stay under water 2-4 hours is GREAT!).
When in my 30s I started playing soprano ...Expand for more
recorder. After I had played it for a while, my husband asked me if I wanted a "Real" instrument. I explained that a recorder IS a real instrument when played well. I enjoy making music with my family and friends (some play guitars, hammer dulcimers, violins, auto harps, keyboards, etc.) I especially like to play my recorder outdoors. I take it everywhere with me. I play everything from fiddletunes and waltzes to sacred and classical music. I have played in church and for weddings, but since coming to Seattle, I mostly play for/by myself--still looking for someone to "play" with. It's a lot more fun to make music with others.
I read a lot, but I also enjoy listening to books on CD or tape. In fact books-on-tape help me keep my sanity in the traffic around here. Last winter we actually had snow and it took me five and 1/2 hours to get home (usually a 45 minute drive). I would have gone crazy without my book-on-tape.
