Alice's Story
married right out of highschool and moved to chicgao had three sons. moved to michigan and devorced in1978. went back to colleg. became respiratory therapist worked in area hospitals, wanted more, became emt and vollenterd on local ambulance servie and taught first aid and cpr classes. move to kansas city in 1986 and went back and recieved nursing degreee. moved back to albuq. in 1992 and worked at Lovelace medical center and was a surgial scrub nurse and midwife, did some deliveries out on the hopi, zuni and navajo res; really enjoyed that. love the Navajo culture. was given lots of turquios jewelry as gifts in leu of payments for deliveries. really loved Navajo tacos burrietos and sopapilla's encilades and fry bread and lots of green chili. moved back to kc in 2000 to be near expanding children. now have 12. one in Iraq. and one time i had 5 nei...Expand for more
ces and nephews in iraq and on uss cole. sent lots of care boxes.
currently live in whats called inlaw quaters in oldest sons home with his new wife and new grandson. i do a little quilting, sewing, crocheting, needlepoint, and geneaology. traced some family members back to 1680's, it is a ongoing project, also do a little gardening and canning. have a house full of dogs and one cat who is constanly hiding from dogs. all 3 sons are married for the second time and all very happy for a change, told them i was tired of marruing them off. have really wonderful grandkids, who have me constantly making cookies, brownies cakes and home made bread
not quite as active as i use to be. loved canoeing,camping and fishing. also antiqueing. diabetes and arthritis ect have taken their toll. but i get out quite a bit, do some volunter work. also belong to DAR
