Arthur's Story
I joined the Army shortly after graduation and served one tour in Vietnam. I have also been stationed in Korea, Germany, and Hawaii. Met my wife while stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and married in 1972. I have two children: A son Patrick born in Hawaii in 1976 and a daughter Alicia born at Fort Benning, Georgia, in 1980. I have lived in Phenix City, Alabama, since 1977. I retired from the Army in 1982, got an associate's degree in drafting, and went to work for civil service at Fort Benning, Georgia. I am now retired because of my health. We had a house built and moved into it in September 2003. It would be good to hear from my classmates. his wife gave us a baby girl named Emily Brooke. She came into this world at 7 lb and 19" long. I'm so happy.
On 04 June 2011, I became a grandfather for the second time. My son and his wife gave us another granddaughter, Catherine Elizabeth, who came into this world at 7 lb and 20" long. Both of them make me so proud.
In January 2014, I was diagnosed with lung cancer and have been fighting it for two years with chemo and radiation. The treatments help and then the cancer grows. I've on my third round of chemo and have had one round of radiation, but the cancer is gaining on me.
On 24 July 2014, our son and his wife gave us a third granddaughter, Addison Louise. And on the same date one year later, our daughter gave us another granddaughter, Victoria Marie. I'm loving it!
