Alicia's Story
Life
I moved to Tucson from Tuba City in 1977 and have enjoyed working and raising a family here. I have been employed by the University of Arizona since 1988. My family consists of my three children, two dogs, and three cats. My oldest son is 27 years old; my middle child, a daughter, is 21; and my youngest son is 19. My favorite pastime is music and I am involved in volunteer work.
School
I attended kindergarten at Bethany Baptist and Booker T. Washington, then first and second grades at Solano on 15th Avenue/Missouri in Phoenix. Third grade, first semester, was at the public school in Chinle, Arizona. Third grade, second semester, and all of fourth were at the public school in Kayenta, Arizona. Fifth grade, first semester was at Cupeville in San Juan, Puerto Rico. were at Tuba City High School (public school side) in Tuba City, Arizona. I attended Pima Community College for two years in Tucson, Arizona, but did not graduate. I graduated from the Tucson College of Business in 1984.
Workplace
Phoenix: babysitting; house cleaning; apartment renovation/reconstruction clean-up; Maricopa County summer youth work program (laying trails and picking up garbage in the National and State parks); and telephone sales.
Tuba City: Dairy Queen (owned by the very nice Bishop family); and Tuba City High School part-time life guard and Red Cross swimming instructor (Coach Jenkins was the "boss").
