Alison's Story
Life
I am living in the Durham area with my two children. Most of my time is spent raising my two awesome kids and working full-time. This spring(09) I graduated from Ryerson with mt BA in Child and Youth Work.
College
After spending a week in University I quit ... I then worked for the rest of the year before returning to school. At that time I went to Centennial College to become a Child and Youth Worker. It was a three year program ...Expand for more
that required field placements in group homes and psychiatric based institutions. I did my third year placement with psychotic children in a school based program run by the Clarke Institute of Psychiatry.
Workplace
I am an Itinerent Child and Youth Worker for the York Region School Board. I am part of a behaviour intervention team that responds to behaviour emergencies in 46 schools. I am also a trained instructor for Roots of Empathy.
