I quit school in my senior year at Bassick to work fulltime, as I was about to become a father, and it was hard to support a child with part time work. I married that year, and had a baby girl. At 21, my father (who had lived with us for about 1 1/2 years), passed away, my marriage fell apart, and I was drafted. Tough year by any standards. I went into the Army at the end of Vietnam, stayed for a year, and was given and early out with an honorable discharge. Upon discharge I moved to Shelton Ct. I started school and became a jouneyman machinist. Upon completing school, I worked in the Aerospace industry, building engines for commercial and Air Force Jets around the world. I eventually became involved with building engines for the Abrams tank, working on the spacecraft engines, and the Bradley. I eventually married again, my daughter moved back with me, and I had 3 more children-2 girls and a boy. My son being the baby. I moved to Oregon in 1991, ( I got a call that my sister was dying). I moved out to Oregon. This was at the end of another rocky marriage and eventual divorce. I continued working as a machinist until 2001, at which time I went into drug and alcohol counseling. I am still a counselor in that field, and am told I do an excellent job of helping people get their lives together. My kids are all grown up, I have 6 grandchildren and one on the way.
