Allen's Story
After Seeger I went to Purdue and earned an Engineering degree. I moved to Myrtle Beach for my first job, and with the exception of about a year in Washington DC, I stayed in the South for about 15 years. I lived in Atlanta for awhile, then moved to Cary, North Carolina. It was there that I changed careers and got involved in the software industry, doing training and consulting in object-oriented technologies. In 1996 I started working with the Java programming language and have been doing that since then. I'm a senior consultant with Fusion Alliance in Indianapolis now, developing mostly Java-based web applications.
I met Charlene Cable in Myrtle Beach in 1984 and we got married in 1987. We split up in 1998, but are still friends. No kids, thank goodness.
I met Robin Murphy from Boston while in New York City in 1998. In 1999 I moved to Boston, and we got married in 2000. Mitchell James Benson was born in January of 2003. We moved to Indiana in 2002. loved Boston. It really gets into your system. I'm now a die-hard Red Sox and Patriots fan. And I even liked them before they started winning all the time.
I've been fortunate to have done quite a bit of traveling. I've been to Australia three times, where I became a certified SCUBA diver on the barrier reef, jumped out of an airplane at 14,000 feet, bungy jumped in Cairnes, and climbed Ayers Rock. Great country to visit. I've also been to India, Hong Kong, and various places around Europe.
I play a few instruments, and do some multi-track recording at home. Played drums and guitar in a band in North Carolina...that was fun. Now I play electric bass in our church orchestra. I have always liked running but I started getting more serious about it last year. I did three 10K's and a 5K last summer, and ran a half-marathon in Indy on November 1. I'm running the Mini Marathon in Indy on May 2.
Mostly we just do fun stuff together as a family.
Our class will hold its 30-year reunion on June 13, 2009 at the Harrison Hills Country Club in Attica, Indiana from 6:30pm to 11pm. See SeegerClassof1979 dot com for details!
