Allen Berger's Story
Well, it was a round-about route to Savannah, but here I am. After Utica I taught high school (first in UFA and then in Monroe High in Rochester NY). Then was a tenured faculty member at Southern Illinois University, University of Alberta, University of Pittsburgh, and Miami University. cation. I also coauthored and co-edited some ten books. The latest is Secondary School Literacy: What Research Reveals for Classroom Practice (National Council of Teachers of English, 2007). Since moving here two years ago I took the training to be a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Children. I'm also active on the Board of Trustees of Live Oak Public Libraries, which oversees 19 libraries in three counties in GA.
