Allen's Story
After THS, I went to DeKalb College. I was student body VP, a member of Who's Who, & graduated w/ an AS degree. I transferred to USF in Tampa to study marine biology. After numerous jobs during THS years (camp counselor, concession stand {Adams Stadium}, painter, landscaper, etc., I eventually settled into work for Colonial (Big Star) supermarkets. I transferred to Florida & then back to Tucker after USF. I married my high school sweetheart (Kathy Lund) in 1980 in an open air chapel at Lake Lanier. We purchased our starter home in the Lawrenceville area where we lived until 1999 ! I continued to work my way up the management chain with Big Star (Grand Union) until accepting a position at the Executive Regional Staff in Atlanta. Kathy worked her way through numerous big named companies (Dow, HCA, GA School Board), etc.) as an administrative assistant. In the late 1980's, she decided to become a teacher & rec'd her degree from Mercer. She began teaching 2nd graders in L'ville, then 4th graders. I then did the same earning my degree from GA St. I began (& ended) teaching Ga Studies to 8...Expand for more
th graders at Lanier Middle School in Buford & continued for 3 decades. Kathy began teaching 7th graders at Hull MS & eventually 8th graders with me at LMS. We took 8th graders to Europe each Spring Break. We always spoke of having kids of our own ... once our careers "settled down" (lol) ! After 120 (or more) students each year, we inadvertently settled for multiple 4 legged "children" so, our home was always full. We moved to Forsyth Co. in 1999 & (many, many dogs later & thousands of students) have been in the same house ever since. With ailing parents, & our need to assist in their care, we retired in 2017. We have always enjoyed travel (Mexico, Bahamas, Jamaica, Barbados, Tahiti, Europe, etc.) & met our best friends (native Parisiennes) while traveling & have traveled internationally & here in the US, numerous times with them. We love nature, are animal lovers, appreciate the environment, & support those who struggle against the more powerful. As people of faith, we trust that good hearted people will help direct our nation (& the world) to a better future. "Go Tucker Tigers"
