Allen's Story
Hello classmates. I just wanted to let you know that Allen passed away with Alzheimer's disease on May 24th 2019. He was my husband for 56 years and helped me raise two girls and one boy. I was registered to start school there at Huntington East but during the summer my folks moved to Chesapeake Ohio so that's where I graduated from I really hated to leave that school but I had no choice. Allen spent his final days in Church Hill Tennessee. We move to Tennessee a year-and-a-half ago and I will remain in Churchill until my final day also. We had a beautiful military funeral for him and he is buried an the military cemetery here in Tennessee. I was very happy with him putting in his obligated time with the US Navy where he spent 20 years and retired as a lieutenant commander. He sure was a handsome fellow in that naval uniform. He flew c-130s, p 3 and the S3 that was a jet type aircraft that landed on board carriers out in our beautiful ocean. from the Navy with 20 years in 1980. Then as a civilian worked 10 years with AT&T as an electrical engineer. He received many many awards and acknowledgements during his work in the Navy as well as a civilian life. After leaving AT&T where he received an award Thor a distinguished member of technical staff. Then he went to work at wavetech as an engineer where they were making test equipment. He spent another five years working for a smaller company just to have the retirement that he planned on. He spent 10 years as an enlisted man and he worked his way up to the officer rank and retired. I took care of my ailing husband for about 10 years when he was diagnosed what's the disease but the last 6 weeks of his life I was forced to put him in a nursing home that was approved by the military. They paid every penny of his bill. We had a good life together. He was my rock. He's only been gone 4 months and I just don't know how I'm going to handle my new situation.. He was a very good provider, husband and Dad. Huntington East High would have been very proud of him also. Fair seas to you all. Pat
