Alonzo's Story
Okay, here we go.......
I graduated from Queens Vocational H.S. in 1976, then went into the US Army in August of the same year. I have successfully completed 23 years of military service, Living in Korea, Germany, Ireland, Hawaii, and almost all the US States.
Traveling, for 11 years, working as a Communications Brigade Specialist,
and an Equal Opportunity Facilitator, kinda like the Steve Wilkos Show. Also, I done a tour in Fort Ord, California as a Supply Sergeant for a Division size unit .I came back to Jamaica New York, and was selected by the Dept. of the Army for Recruiting duty in Aug. of 1986 I went to Recruiting School in Fort Ben Harrison, Indiana, and also attended school at Vincennes University there, acquiring an Associates Degree in Counseling Psychology. I returned to New York, enjoying a great Recruiting tour, becoming top Recruiter in New York State 2 years consecutively.I worked out of Jamaica Ave. Queens NY, teaching Military Doctrine in Jamaica and Hillcrest High Schools, Hempstead NY, and Marcy Ave. Bklyn NY, and 23rd St. Armory, Manhattan, NY. I left New York in Sept. 1993, to recruit In Long Beach California, Retiring
in June 1998, with a lifetime recruiting record of 144% over mission, 538 people enlisted . Boots For Everyone!! After retirement at the age of 39, I procured a job
as a store owner/manager of U-Haul Inc. in South Central...Expand for more
Los Angeles, just after the riots. After 2 years of cleaning dead bodies out of storage, repaving burned tarmac, junking burned up trucks,having Hells Angels visiting from next door ,and old cranky renters, I found a job with Direct TV, as Chief Security Manager. I stayed there a year, then was picked up by Boeing International in El Segundo (it really exists1) . I worked in a Top Secret
facility ( I would tell you what I was doing, but then I would have to kill you),
dealing with Space Satellite manufacturing and testing..Done that interesting stuff for 3 years, then layoffs hit as Boeing downsized. I re-married, (done that one 3 times now), and moved to Ontario Ca., where I landed a job as TSA officer at Los Angeles Airport. I got to meet and talk to people like Evander Holyfield, Rick James, Lionel Richie, Harry Belafonte, Beyonce, Lisa Raye,
Verdine White, Ludacris, John Cena, Courtney Vance, Sugarfoot, and many, many others. I was there 3 years until I received a call from my sons mother,
telling me she needed help with discipline with my son. So, I packed up everything, moved here back in NYC, and in 2006, lived in Jonesboro Ga for a year before returning. Now, I am about to return to Jonesboro, because it reminds me of California's openness. I am enjoying life, stress free and at 52, feeling like a youngster.
