Alvin's Story
this i.d. ain't my real name, as you can probably imagine.
i'm not famous, nor am i hiding out. it's just my nature i guess. mystery man.
see, i don't do facebook, twitter, or other social network crap.
i remain fiercely independent (rebellious i guess)
parts of EHS were memorable- but i hated school, pretty much.
i got kicked out of school so many times me and Turtle were on a first name basis (he hated me.)
i was 'disruptive', 'incorrigible', and 'insubordinate' (he often told me)
in the end there they told me i either kowtowed to get out in '69 or they'd never let me in an O.C. school again.
i'm sorry to forget who the principal was in '69 (turtle left in '68)- i liked him well enough.
i truly think i was so disheartened by the teacher walkout (strike) i just gave up on learning in that environment.
they abandoned us (it was like 'babysitting school' during that strike), the administration hung us out to dry.
it was like missing the day they did 9's in multiplication (elementary school), you just never g...Expand for more
et over what you lost.
ask me about 7's or 8's, but 9's is lost forever.
dabbled a bit in 'college' afterward, but bailed and did two things; traveled extensively, and worked.
i've been very successful (at both.)
i remember many of you like it was yesterday.
had lots of friends at EHS, and loads of fun--- but still hated the process of schooling.
my photo never appeared in the yearbook, but i did sign a few along the way- so my 'mark' is sort of there.
I purposefully avoided having my photo in there- even worked on the Odisagha (sp) staff to assure that.
i went to a couple of reunions.
moved out of FL after the three hurricanes hit (tired of that.) five or six years ago.
don't visit much anymore- family all dead or gone. nothing there to bring me back.
i gotta admit, there's a few i'd like to see again; here at 60 something, you can't help but have fond memories for people you knew at that critical time- growing up.
y'all be good and stay healthy. we've made it this far, and many of our friends haven't.
