Alvis's Story
We moved to Odessa in 1957. I attended Austin elementary in the 5th and 6th grades. Moved across the fence to Crockett where i went as long as my dad didn't want to move to Oklahoma, which he did several times and then return to Odessa. Then on to OHS. Almost graduated but "clerical errors kept me from walking the stage. They were later "corrected" and I did receive my diploma. Not that I'm bitter you understand. up in Odessa education being the principal at Alamo, Bowie, and OHS. She later became the Superintendant of Winona iSD in East Tx. After losing her husband this year she decided to go back to her roots and accepted the Kermit ISD Superintendancy. She gave me 2 grandchildren A boy, who is attending grad school at Texas A&M and a girl who is in her final year as a RN. So proud of them all
As for me, I failed my military physical for Vietnam Nam so I went back to work and started a family in Odessa. In 1975 I started my own business. 33 years later I looked up and noticed I was old. So I sold everything and moved back to Abilene where I was born. Now that I'm alone I may move back to the desert
