Alyson's Story
Life
I left SC in 1993 to come visit my folks in Alaska, who have since moved back to the South. I fell in love with this state and have never left (to be more precise: I have never really considered resettling in the South).
I moved to Japan in 95 where I began teaching English to Japanese professionals and expanded a small chain of English schools into a larger chain. During my time there, I traveled to myriad countries. And now after twelve years of going back and forth to Tokyo, I have about twenty countries' passport stamps.

In 1999, I settled back in Anchorage and eventually got my Master's of Arts in Teaching with an emphasis in ESL. In 05-06 I took a year of leave and went back to Japan (which was easy since I still have an apartment there). After a year abroad, I decided to come back to Alaska.
After a long stint in the South this summer, my family and Carolinian friends tried to persuade me to move back. When I returned to Anchorage after a seven-week hiatus (spent mostly at the beach), I knew I was home and that I wouldn't be leaving any time soon.
