Amanda's Story
After high school, I went to Tennessee for the summer to stay with my mom. In the fall I started college at Northwest Missouri State University with an intended major of Government with a focus on Pre-Law. I was there for a year and a half before deciding it wasn't for me.
In December of 1995, I left to move to Oklahoma with the man I was engaged to. We were married in November of 1997. I lived there working in IT as a helpdesk professional until 2005 at which point my husband and I separated and I moved to Minnesota. My divorce was finalized in October of 2005. In Minnesota, I continued working in IT but changed from helpdesk to Quality Assurance and Testing.
I am currently living with my boyfriend (and half the time...Expand for more
, his two children -- both boys) and our two birds (an African Grey and a parrotlet) and we just added two kittens to the mix as well. We have no intention of getting married or having children.
We have just finished building a house in the area and moved into it at the end of October.
I spent about 11 months unemployed from 12/2007 and decided to go back and take college courses online to complete an Associates degree in IT.
As of just before Thanksgiving I started a new job, a step back in my desired career path, but after 11 months you can't exactly be picky.
I just recently joined FaceBook and have gotten back in contact with several people that way. If you're looking to do the same that's a good place to start.
