Amanda's Story
Life
Well, after graduation I went straight to college at NMSU and earned my BBA in Finance. After two semesters of graduate school, I dropped out and moved to Austin, TX where I have worked for various state agencies. For the last 2 and a half I have worked as a Contract Manager for various FEMA and now Youth Grants. I love what I do and can't imagine doing anything else, I take great pride in knowing that what I do makes a difference in the lives of children in the State of Texas. My job allows me the freedom to travel to various parts of the state to see what wonderful work our non-profit contractors are doing to make a difference in the lives of troubled youth. I am still single and loving every minute of it, Austin is a great place for it, there are a ton of things to do. I would love to talk to old friends and find out what you have been up to so feel free to shout at me, I promise to respond.
School
There are two teachers that made a distinct impression on me in HS, Mr. Sheets and Mr. Cooke. Mr. Sheets because he made history interesting and I have never lost that, thank you so much and Mr. Cooke because he opened up a whole new world for me with Drama and Tech Theatre. I lo...Expand for more
ved my senior year at the New HS, when I visit NM and pass it I smile at the memories. My most embarrassing moment occurred in that HS, on the way to lunch in the middle of the crowd falling down the stairs....lol. Well, I was a klutz then and not much has changed except my attitude about it (it takes a lot to embarrass me now). HS was a great time for me and I thank everyone who contributed to that.
College
College......oh the memories......a different bar for every night of the week.....the boyfriends I don't talk about anymore....the time I got sick at the Hilton into traffic because of the Long Island Ice Teas.....for those of you that where there with me need I say more? Oh to be so young and stupid again, those were the days.
Military
What to say about White Sands Missle Range....hmmm. Well, my dad was stationed there when I was 5 years old and retired in 1989. My mom continued to work on base and I went to school (kinder-8th) at White Sands Elementary/Middle School, then High School in Cruces. After HS I took my first two years of college at the branch on base. I guess you could say I grew up on White Sands. I would love to hear from anyone that remembers me from that time.
