Amber's Story

Life I hope this lets me list my email - ozzmaga at yahoo dot com. I love music, reading, history, gardening and gemstones. I am passionate about the Earth. I am a true homebody. Having had the churchy upbringing and family, I basically seperate myself and do my thing in a quiet, amused way. I use my stones, my herbs, my voice and my drum in ways that bring power to my life. I play the NA flute and guitar. I have 6 kids, all home-born. The oldest 5 are grown. My oldest son is bi-polar and in prison, the youngest is dx'd with Asperger's Syndrome. I'm the oldest of 11, daughter of a minister mother who lives in Kenya, married to the son of a preacher, with 11 cats and a rabbit. I work with a feral cat community doing spay/neuter/release. I'm currently laid off. I believe we owe it to ourselves to protect our mental health. I dislike housework and I talk too much. lol In High School, my god I think everybody in the world knew I liked Joe Torelli except him. Can we say hide in the bathroom? Mama took me out to learn to drive and I saw the football team practicing. I guess I forgot what I was doing and drove the car in the ditch. Mama didn't ever take me driving again. I learned 3 yrs after I was married - when I was 21! Seems like half of high school was spent in the bathrooms. My goodness I was insecure. My mom had a nervous breakdown my jr year and someone had to take care of my little sister. I dropped the 3rd quarted of my Jr. Yr. I did what was expected of me after that and married into that daggone church. 16 yrs and 5 kids later I mustered up the courage to get a divorce. Best thing I ever did. My kids suffered a lot from my lack of backbone - today they are all doing well. Now I'm married to an Atlanta native. Born and raised right here where we live. I wouldn't trade him for anything. We have a son together who is my greatest joy. So I guess if I had to do things over to get where I am today, I would. I got my ...Expand for more
GED in 1990 and my Associates in BA in 2000. I am 4 classes away from my Bachelor's in visual communication and I'm now training to be a Medical Transcriptionist. The teacher who inspired me most was our French teacher. I loved Mr. Simon's stories. He always made me feel that I could be more in spite of my mama's ongoing mental crisis. I was sad that he stopped teaching. I saw him working for the airport in 1979 or 80. I wish Ms Woods would have pushed me more with typing. I admired Ms Foster too because she taught me to write and I am still writing today. I still write Essays! For me, High School was all about hiding. I never figured anyone would like me if they knew how home was. Not many people knew. I wasn't a smoker or drinker or druggie...I kept the rules as best I could and hid out. If I had do-overs, I'd get in touch with Kaye Hendrickson and never loose my friend. She was so sweet. I'd have stayed in touch with Dana LoPorto and Rory (rose) Buchanan too. Seems looking back that I knew everyone and hung with no one. I guess I'm still kinda like that today. I've had one real close friend over the years - met her right after my oldest daughter was born - She's back in Parkville, MO. I don't spend much time looking back today. I garden and love having my hands in dirt. Geoffie has Asperger's Syndrome - a mild autism - and that takes a lot of time. Our home contains lots of music and laughter. We are a pretty solid unit. My oldest son was undiagnosed Bi-polar and he got involved with drugs. He's serving time in prison and I have high hopes for when he gets out. He's doing lots better. I think that scares alot of people off from being friends because I don't hide things anymore. My childhood was all about keeping secrets and today I simply refuse to do it. So if anyone decides to 'go gold' on Classmates, shoot me an email. I'm a nice lady these days. lol Back then, I HAD wings... today, I just watch birds!
